PORTLAND!

Just returned from an overnight in Portland, Maine.   What an adventure!   Our first stop when we got there happened to be lunch.   Leon and I shared charcuterie board full of cheeses and meats and nuts and fruit along with delicious bread slices.  
​The honey and sauces were equally as good.

A huge circular bar greeted us as we entered.   I could just see it filled with regulars who stopped by for cocktails and fully filled up the place.   Such a HUGE bar.

I just walked around snapping pictures all over the place.   So contemporary.   Such creative furnishings.   Just fabulous!

There appeared more seating upstairs!

Of course there were a couple of pizza ovens built into the brick wall.   WOW!​

Our traveling buddies dined on pizza and delicious chocolate cake before we headed to the mall - each on a mission - Leon, the APPLE computer place, Jim to Best Buy to discuss routers for the internet, Kay to return something.   I wanted to explore MACY'S and found some tops for $6.95!  Then off to the Hyatt to check in, resting for a bit before taking off for dinner...

at Rosie's Pub!   What a treat that was.

I watched these "kids" play on that dart board, hitting the middle of it a whole lot of times.   I asked them how long they had been playing to hit the center of that circle.   "Lots of years!"   They had been in contests.   "You have got to twist your throw a bit and will land right there in the middle," I was told.   I can tell you, it would take a whole lot of practice for me to even get one of those darts in the board!

After a few drinks, Leon and I split a steak bomb that was out-of-this world with those scrumptious fries.   What a nice walk and lots of laughter as we returned to our rooms.   All these happenings were packed into one full day.

After breakfast at the hotel we had to get back to Spencer - so said our "good-byes" and headed for home.    One full day and one terrific evening and one shared breakfast happen to be a whole lot of fun.   I hated to see it end so soon.
