We had our last lunch out, for it is time for Kristi and Mary to make their way home. You know, a week goes by so quickly when family visits. I loved the time spent with them, always seems so sad when they depart. The cake Leon made lasted all week long, each of us taking bits and pieces of it every day. The new board arrived with drawers for puzzle pieces to be placed. It makes putting them together much easier. This is our third one while sitting around the table talking. What a treat. After I took the girls to the airport, blankets were returned to the back seat and Spencer jumped in ready for things to get back to normal. It was a lovely visit for us all - including Spencer. Can't wait for our next get-together.

Friday night eating was spectacular (once again). We dined at Dry Dock in Rockland. Steak bombs and haddock sandwich and sweet potato fries filled us up. We munched on our eatings and carried on with conversation. Another packed dining place. Spencer wondered if he was going with us. Sorry buddy. Sunday morning! Ate our breakfast at Home Kitchen Cafe and boy was that ever great. Sticky bun French toast and pancakes hit the spot. Big crowd of people. We drank a whole lot of coffee before our order was served. Water and flowers and rocks exist wherever we end up off the fun filled rides in Maine. Quite a holiday for a family visit. One more day... Spencer still wondering if he could come along. Rest up buddy and
we'll go walking when I get home. It's Friday night at WaterWorks restaurant where we enjoyed some delicious seafood. We dined in a partially filled restaurant until 5:45 - then the packed place got busy. Haddock and shrimp happened to be our choice for the evening. Another puzzle was completed. You need to click on the pictures to get the full effect!!! Today a visit to Reny's in Belfast occurred. with a look at the butterfly nets. A stop at T.J. Maxx had us admiring handbags. The store was full of great things on sale. Leon and I ran over to the Bell's house and picked up the Miata, where it has been resting all winter. It now sits in our garage ready to go touring. We can never thank Marjorie and Bill enough for the use of a place to rest that car. It has been one gorgeous day outside. Mary and I took Spencer for a walk wearing only our sweaters.
What a lovely time it has been today. The puzzle players were on their way to putting one together, while also planning our day. Lunch took place at Graffam's - oh that food tasted good. Then home placing coins in their proper containers, dining on a bundt cake that Leon made and getting a taste of those delicious scones. Must make a trip for more of those. Can make them while adding whipping cream and that's it before placing in the oven. Taking a very interesting look at the selection of eats appeared like nothing I've ever seen. That fish took over in the size department. But the best part of my day spotlighted turkeys in our driveway. Just visiting!
Another day begins! We love it when family visits from Iowa. It's such a treat catching up with them. I found new Maine places to explore while they are here, which is always one great time. My sister and cousin love Leon's oddly shaped pizza and that Caesar salad hit the palate just right, too. I love Leon's pizza! I could eat it every night for dinner. But dining with a super family is the gift. I'm so happy they are here,
even if it's only for a week. We watched the CMT Music award show which was entirely fan-voted awards. And boy was there a crowd. The phenomenal staging and crowd of fans took over and I couldn't stop watching it. The diamond studded guitar was the hit of the show for me. I would learn how to play if there happen to be glitz like that! I don't know who these people are but their attire spoke volumes. Look at those diamond rings and that cool cowboy hat. The most impressive happened to be the clothes these performers wore. The emcee, Kelsea Ballerini, wore about 10 clothes changes. Every time was something completely different in style. Every young girl (which they all were!!) wore the shortest skirt I have ever seen. Fabric is gorgeous, just not enough! Now this outfit sort of got me thinking, what kind of performing garment is this? I may be growing old and just jealous that gals can wear these clothes. Now, I'll bet there will be many fans shopping today. Anyway, the singing was just fabulous.
Those singers performed almost throughout the whole show. Places in Maine are going to witness the total eclipse tomorrow afternoon. People across the state are in a place where history is being made and get to see it first hand...totally dark. The New York Times article states "Amid the rush to purchase eclipse glasses to protect one's eyes and to check if clouds will disrupt the view, a deeper human experience is unfolding. The eclipse taps into a primal emotion, and evokes for many a sort of mystical moment and childlike wonder, as awareness of the celestial encompasses the earth. It is a present reminder to everyone, on the same day, that life can be magical."
I'm not sure how dark it will get here at around 2:00 but the sky is supposed to be clear. I can't wait to see what such an event brings to the eyes of those witnessing even a part of the eclipse. This book about my life took two years to finally get done - mainly dealing with the photos within. It begins with me growing up and ends with my gravestone sitting in Iowa. The book mentions treasured events and touches upon every stage I have lived through. There are only a few chapters devoted to life in Maine as it would take another two books to tell of all the experiences devoted to living on the east coast. The book only has snippets of important things I experienced, thought about, had fun doing and my family. I ordered two black and white copies to see how they turned out and was pleased with the results. The colored copies went to my sister and brother - and Leon's kids. I have enjoyed every step of my life - the positives and negatives. For they both have led me down paths that made me grow into the person I am today. This book was finally complete after proofreading 20 times and there are still errors in it. If you want to write your own book, look up StoryWorth and read about it. They have pages of questions and answers about your writing that will help you decide. These 357 pages were worth the cost to me.
Winter has not left us yet! On the coast we are expecting 5" to 8" where up north it's coming down and leaving 15 inches. It's called a Nor'Eastern with the wind playing a big part. Rockport is expecting 40-50 mph winds. The windows frost over and we can hardly see out of them. I love these days! Predicted snow levels and powerful winds in Rockland! All of these numbers could read more as they continue throughout the day til 5:00 tonight. Another sign of "thankfulness" for our generator as there are 200,000 homes already without power. You never know how long this will last and how many more houses without power exist right now. This is one reason why people head south during the winter!
