The setting in this story takes place in Maine during the pandemic, as Lucy moves from Manhattan to a safer place to deal with such a situation. Her ex-husband, William, sees to it that she puts herself in safer place.
Isolation during COVID becomes the key-word in this story. It expresses the struggles that come along with it. And throughout reference to former Strout's writings occur as Olive Kittridge's name appears several times.
The difficulty throughout the book is what loneliness does to one.
My imagination played a part in this read. We have all lived through the pandemic and know what it feels like. Strout has explained how families stay together, beginning to learn about each other. It is a fast read. A meaningful read when one is put in such situations. Enjoy!
