JUST THINKING

I'm sitting in the Clarion Hotel lobby in Portland waiting for Michelle to come and pick me up. You see I was supposed to have shoulder surgery today. Leon brought me down to the hotel yesterday because my surgery was scheduled for 7:45 this morning and I was to be at the hospital at 6:15 A.M. I noticed Leon's blood shot eyes and told him to call the doctor. The response he got was "get to ER immediately"!

So Leon drove all the way home and checked into ER there because he knew those doctors. I find out late last night that he had a heart attack and they are moving him into the Portland Hospital by ambulance. He sounds alright as I talked to him many times this morning after cancelling my surgery.

Michelle came to pick me up. Now that is a loving friend indeed. As I sit here in the lobby a hotel worker is vacuuming the carpeted floor as my legs are lifted so she can do her job right. With make up and hair spray left at home my appearance is somewhat daunting. Sadness sets in, my thoughts go to what is important in life. It's not your appearance that matters. It's not the inconveniences that occur. It's the ones you love deeply and care for immensely that need your attention.

Wow - what a whirlwind of events. I'm so sorry for Leon experiencing something so urgent and serious. So glad he's in good spirits. What a terrible scare we experienced. I have so many caring friends, Heather. They are all ready to help out with anything we need. I'm at home where the make-up lies and hairspray is being used. I will NEVER go without it packed again!!! Love you, Heather.

Barb, you have the best instincts….yes, one day at a time. It sounds like he is getting top not care. I wish I could be there sitting with you,. God is watching over you two. Michelle and all your other good friends will be there to help. Let them help.you …you need need sleep to keep up your stamina. Good food dropped off so you can do what you need. If there is gardening to be done you have friends who will help with that. Whatever you need , let them take good care of both of you….it has been a life filled with stress and concern lately. You need all hands on deck, like you do for others.

Leon just called and had a stint put in so may be coming home tomorrow. THANK GOD! It's been whirlwind couple of days. I know nothing about surgeries so I'm in the dark til comes home and draws me a picture! Now I can reschedule my shoulder appointment! Love your kind words. They always help out!

Ellen, Leon is still in the hospital. They want to keep him there because of kidney problems. So, I will be heading down to Portland until it is fixed enough for PenBay to take care of him. I feel those hugs you are sending. LOVE YOU!

Rick! Can't wait til you guys get here. Spent the day in Portland with Leon. Just talked to him. His hospital dinner arrived! "Where is the Mac and Cheese I ordered" was his response when he lifted the lid of his meal. I want him home!

Oh Barb, I am just now hearing and reading about you and Leon, I hope he is home by now. It is a blessing that Leon got to the hospital on time and now that he has a stint, I will be praying that he is on his way to complete recovery. I will also be praying that you have successful shoulder surgery. I had shoulder surgery last Sept. and it is not fun but I'm sure it will be a piece of cake for you. I wish I were there so I could help you in some way. Please take care of yourself as you take care of Leon. Love to you both.

Freda, I'm just now reading this. Leon came home yesterday. I am waiting on the shoulder surgery until things settle down around here. I know it's going to hurt and don't want to deal with that pain right now. Thanks for your kind thoughts, Freda.
