WHILE IN IOWA

While in Iowa we drove by the house my mother and her 8 brothers and sisters grew
up in.   Aunt Charlotte remained there for many years and lots of happenings occurred celebrating family!   The structure still stands as a reminder of those days when cousins had slumber parties sharing space on the living room floor.  Christmas was celebrated there with a house full of happiness.    On that front porch sat a swing and we would all enjoy those ice cream days getting together when we were kids.    Now look at it!   A shambled mess.   Not taken care of.   Needing fixed and painted.  However, those memories still linger every year when I return to Iowa.

Here is the lot we are interested in purchasing in a new development
near mom's early homestead in LaPorte City.
Beautiful homes surround a cul-de-sac.    So fresh and clean, much like our
Clam Cove house in Maine.
Corn fields exist behind as a reminder of growing up years.

My niece, Katie, and husband Jason have moved to Iowa as well.   Kristi treated us to an evening of eating FISH!   So wonderful to gather with family and
get back to where I grew up.

As we return to Maine we see what FALL has to offer - traffic - to do a little leaf peeping.

Those leaves are just fabulous this year.    We'll be taking a few drives around this month.   It has been one wonderful week visiting family and once again
being with high school buddies!
