ONE SCARY EVENT

Sunday appeared.   Leon was up at 5:00 a.m. and went back to bed at 9:00 a.m. not feeling good.   His buddy joined him.   Then at about 9:20 he asked me to take him to the hospital feeling that he was having another heart attack.   Oh, my gosh, we head 2 miles to PenBay Hospital and after administering an EKG they did a second one to confirm the first one.   That showed he was definitely having a heart attack.   Then the room went wild!    There were six doctors, nurses, and interns surrounding him while putting all kinds of equipment on his body.    After a discussion he was offered two choices - stay there and have a chemical solution or go to Portland and have a stent put into the clogged artery.
Picture
A helicopter was needed to fly him to Portland - wasting no time.
Off he goes as I stand by our car thinking will I ever see him alive again!    The doctor had painted a dire picture of this situation and I was to go home and wait for a call from Portland.  Michelle and Jeff came over and waited with me.   It seemed like forever before I heard from a Portland doctor calling to tell me that the surgery went well and the stent was in place.   Leon was in ICU and would not be awake til late in the evening.
Picture
Today, Monday, Michelle and I took off to Maine Medical as Leon was being released.   I just can't believe this whole thing!    Talking about "hospice" one minute and then visiting him at the hospital 1 hour and 30 minutes away...ready to come home.
Picture
As I looked at the piano sitting in a corner of the 4th floor, I thought to myself while tears swelled, I've been through this with a brain aneurysm.   In a minute of time our life can change drastically.    I am very happy that Leon is alright and home where he belongs, watching TV with Spencer lying on his lap.   It's not our time to leave this earth.

Barbara I am so sorry you and Leon had to go thru this scary scenario. Thank God Leon listened to what his body was telling him and thank God for the expertise of his medical providers. I have no doubt Spenser is pumping loads of healing seratonin into Leon, as he lies in faithfulness next to him. Bless you💕

It just takes a day like we had to wake us up, Erin. Your life goes along peacefully and then something that could have been tragic happens. I will have a hard time when that experience DOES happen. We will take care of each other. Thanks for your thoughts.

Barb, This was a scary story! I’m so glad that he knew what was happening and to know he needed to go to the hospital. Reading it through your eyes I think the worst part was as you said watching him fly off in a helicopter with that question in your heart. It sounds like he was in good hands with the professionals. Happy ending with being home together and with that sweet loving dog as the photo shows! Best to all❣️

Oh, Deborah! It is so good to hear from you. It was a very scary day, everything happening all at once, speed of all involved saved Leon. The nurses, the helicopter being there immediately, the doctors and nurses at Maine Medical Center prepared...just wonderful. Thanks for your thoughts. They mean so much!
